YMCA's
There are twelve local YMCA facilities around the valley. YMCA is the largest
non profit community service organization in America. It has over 230 locations
throughout the United States and many others around the world. The local YMCA
offers a wide variety of youth oriented sports and activitie as well as summer
camp programs, child care, and teen programs. Because communities have different
needs, each YMCA is different and may offer programs and activities that are
not offered at other Y's. There is a monthly membership fee and additional fees
for programs. Members receive a discounted fee for programs. No one is turned
away because of financial hardship.
The mission of YMCA is to "build strong kids, strong families, and strong
communities". The core values that are taught are "caring, honesty,
respect, and responsibility".
