Boy Scouts of America
The Grand Canyon Council for Boy Scouts of America is one of the ten largest councils in the United States. There are 20 districts with over 2400 individual scouting units. The council includes Cub Scouts, 1st grade through 5th grade, Boy Scouts, 6th grade through 12th grade, and other specialties such as Varsity Scouts, ages 14 - 17, for high rugged adventure and challenging sports activities. The non profit youth organization focuses on character development and values-based leadership. The program stresses character, citizenship, and personal fitness through outdoor activities. Boys earn badges through a variety of activities that include community service, citizenship, personal projects and learning accomplishments. Adult leadership includes both moms and dads as volunteers. The following districts are located in Maricopa County. Please call the District Chairman to locate the exact program for your child. Schools usually provide the information on local units.
